APEL.A Portfolio

APEL.A stands for Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning. It is a way for people who have learned through life experience (not just from school or university) to get credit for what they already know.

Think of it like this: if someone has been working in a field for many years, they already have a lot of knowledge and skills. APEL.A helps the university recognise that learning and allow the person to join a study programme without needing the usual school qualifications.

The applicant fills out a portfolio that tells their learning story. The portfolio has several parts:

1. Personal Details - Name, ID, programme they want to join
2. Formal Learning - Any school or university qualifications they have
3. Informal Learning - Knowledge gained from work experience
4. Non-Formal Learning - Knowledge from training courses, workshops, or self-study
5. Other Learning - Any other learning experiences
6. Justification - A written explanation of why they are ready for the programme
7. Declaration - A signed statement confirming everything is true

Once completed, the portfolio can be saved and exported as a PDF to send to the university.
