APEL.A stands for Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning. It is a way for people who have learned through life experience (not just from school or university) to get credit for what they already know.
Think of it like this: if someone has been working in a field for many years, they already have a lot of knowledge and skills. APEL.A helps the university recognise that learning and allow the person to join a study programme without needing the usual school qualifications.
The applicant fills out a portfolio that tells their learning story. The portfolio has several parts:
